The structure is designed by a different architect each year, the sometimes odd designs becoming a talking point in the media themselves and this year was no exception with the pavilion being designed by Herzog and de Meuron and Ai Weiwei. The space is regularly used as an extension to exhibitions, as a theatre or lecture hall space and occasionally hosts a glamorous party or two but never has it been used to host a series of live London themed chat-shows.
